Correction of Scars

Once damaged, the skin creates a scar that restores the injured area. Unfortunately, there are no techniques or "cosmetic" procedures that will make the scar disappear. What the surgeon can do is disguise it inside a skin fold, a natural sulcus of the body, or improve it by making it finer and more delicate, giving it a Z shape that will convey a more natural look.

Repair of Residual Trauma Defects

It can be a simple scar correction as explained previously, or correction of defective or missing soft parts and also bone correction usually resulting from facial fractures.

Correction of Congenital Deformities

Occasionally some children are born with congenital defects, the lack of an ear and facial clefts, such as over the lips or roof of the mouth. In this event, the plastic surgeon should be immediately contacted, for even if an operation is not required at the moment he is the person who will conduct the treatment, by coordinating a multidisciplinary team of doctors, psychologists, dentists who, in the years to come, will lead the child to a life as closer to normal as possible.
